VIJAYAWADA: On Tuesday launching the Jagananna Sampoorna Gruha Hakku (Single Settlement) program in Tanuku in West Godavari District, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy described it as a further step in changing the economic status of lakhs from the poor.
“The beneficiaries of the housing program will get all the rights to the houses allocated by the government in the past with the implementation of the Sampoorna Gruha Hakku program and they will be able to offer or sell the houses as they wish,” he said. .
Addressing a public meeting, Jagan said it was his great pleasure to launch another welfare program on his birthday, which will benefit 52 lakh people. He announced that the OTS program has been extended until Ugadi (April 2) to allow more people to opt for the voluntary program.
“Own home is the culmination of an individual’s life efforts. As a native village, it also has significance. Everyone dreams of owning a house, living there and passing it on to their children as a precious possession. For two and a half years, our government has been doing everything it can to make this people’s dream come true, ”he declared.
He explained various measures taken by his government in terms of housing, including the allocation of 31 lakhs of houses to the poor, which will create an asset worth Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh each, once the houses are built. and basic infrastructure developed. Under the OTS program, 8.26 lakh of registered house documents will be delivered to beneficiaries. “This is the sign of a great change in society,” he said.
Under this program, the government is waiving 10,000 crore of outstanding housing loans for 40 lakh beneficiaries, who have obtained loans from the Andhra Pradesh Housing Board Corporation until August 15, 2011.
Recipients will receive house documents with clear titles after free registration. The exemption from registration fees and stamp duty for housing beneficiaries alone costs Rs 6,000 crore, he explained.
Over the past 30 months, the government has credited Rs 1.16 lakh crore to the bank accounts of people under various social assistance schemes via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) without the intervention of intermediaries.
“Why should I take money from the poor in the name of OTS program when over Rs 1.16 lakh crore has been provided to people under various welfare schemes,” he asked. and urged people to ask the same question of opposition parties.
Attacking opposition leader N Chandrababu Naidu and others for criticizing the YSRC government for proposing the OTS program, he alleged that they were making the comments unable to digest the fact that he benefited thousands of poor people in the state.
