The entry-level car, scooter and motorcycle segments continue to suffer due to weak growth, as shown by fiscal second quarter (Q2) data released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers on Thursday. (Siam). According to the data, car sales in the mini segment were 44% below the peak in the second quarter of fiscal 2019.

Similarly, car sales in the compact segment were 9% lower than Q2 FY19. The moped segment saw a 51% drop. The decline in sales of motorcycles with an engine up to 110 cc was 35%. However, overall growth showed a healthy trend. The passenger vehicle segment saw its strongest growth in the second quarter with 1,026,000 units, a growth of 38.46% compared to the corresponding period a year ago.
