Bryan Danielson would not wrestle at Sunday’s AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door pay-per-view.

As we noted, AEW previously announced that Danielson will be on Dynamite tonight to talk about his future for Sunday’s Forbidden Door pay-per-view and next Wednesday’s Blood & Guts special. Top NJPW star Zack Saber Jr. called Danielson recently and the plan was to ZSJ against Danielson at Forbidden Door, but that was before Danielson was put on the shelf with an injury.

In an update, now Wrestling Observer Live’s Bryan Alvarez is reporting that Danielson shouldn’t wrestle at Forbidden Door. Alvarez noted how he was told a few days ago that Danielson “is out and maybe won’t wrestle for a while.” It then followed this morning and earlier today word from AEW was that Danielson is “definitely out” of Forbidden Door’s plans.

It should be noted that Danielson’s status for Forbidden Door has not been confirmed by AEW. We’ll know more after his segment on Dynamite tonight. It’s still possible that ZSJ vs. Danielson will be announced on tonight’s show.

Danielson has been on the shelf with an injury since the Double Or Nothing pay-per-view in late May, which saw him, Jon Moxley, Eddie Kingston, Santana and Ortiz team up to defeat the Jericho Appreciation Society in the first-ever Anarchy In The Arena fight. Although it was rumored to have a concussion, it was reported in early June that Danielson had not suffered a concussion but would still be out of action for 1-2 weeks after sustaining some sort of of injury to Double Or Nothing. It was also said that Danielson was “bumped” in the Anarchy match, but was due for Forbidden Door, if not sooner. Word now via Alvarez is that Danielson isn’t expected to work at Forbidden Door, but we’ll find out here in the next few hours or so.
