Darla Ellen Dobson Barnes died of this life on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 in Las Vegas, Nevada where she had resided since 1972. She is predeceased by her mother Mollie Jacobs McNair and her stepfather Robert (Bob) McNair. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Merlin Mark Barnes, and her three children Jari Barnes Hitchen, Chad Barnes (Rebecca) and Lisa Barnes Garcia, three grandchildren Alex Gagnon, Zachary Hitchen and Chris Hitchen, and her brother Mark Pewtress. . Darla is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She and Merlin (Mark) were civilly married in Ogden, Utah on November 25, 1966 and were sealed for time and eternity in the Salt Lake City, Utah Temple the following year on November 27, 1967. They resided in Plain City until they moved to Las Vegas in 1972. She held many positions in the church, including serving as the Relief Society presidency in her local ward and as a bridal assistant at the Las Vegas Temple. , Nevada when it opened. Darla and her husband also served a two-year assignment in the Young Single Adult North Ward in Las Vegas. Darla is often remembered for her captivating smile and infectious laughter. She has never met a stranger, as she greeted everything she met with an open heart and a warm hug. Her great faith supported her through increasingly difficult health issues, especially in her senior year. His final resting place will be in Plain City, Utah, which is near his hometown of Ogden, Utah. Interment is scheduled for the last week of December, weather permitting.
