Health officials discuss treatment and management of cystic fibrosis

Ammon news – Health Minister Firas Hawari and senior ministry officials discussed measures taken to treat and manage cystic fibrosis in the Kingdom, according to a ministry statement released on Saturday.
The ministry said the steps included creating a national registry for patients with cystic fibrosis and establishing specialized clinics to treat and manage the disease and its complications.
The ministry said these measures will initially be implemented at Prince Hamza Hospital and Princess Rahma Hospital, in order to diagnose, treat and monitor these cases.
Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a genetic disease that mainly affects the lungs, but also the pancreas, liver, kidneys and intestine. Long-term problems include difficulty breathing and coughing up mucus due to frequent lung infections.
