The Housing Society is as close to community life as possible. Key aspects of the housing society should be affordability, security, shared responsibility, better management, better facilities, better environment and cultural diversity; But this is far from the truth.

The reality is that there is decision paralysis within our housing societies when it comes to initiatives and efforts that can make our living space, our locality and our city a better living space.

Currently, rough estimates indicate that more than 65% of known services, even regular ones, are supported by an unorganized sector, resulting in shoddy and faulty work. Company managers are forced to consider only the lowest job quote, non-professionals are seen performing the important task of repairing buildings, painting, dealing with leaking, plumbing or electrical issues.

Imagine, for example, garden play equipment from a cheap supplier breaking down and your child being injured, leaky work by a non-professional resulting in repeated expense every year, improper electrical work resulting in excessive power consumption or short circuits leading to major fires, imagine a poorly and unprofessionally cleaned water tank – won’t that lead to illness?

Recently, a company in Andheri East donated exercise equipment for the sole purpose of benefiting all residents. The company has a very well defined space available for this equipment. However, decision paralysis and lack of ownership of decision-making by office officials created a situation of disagreement among residents which only led to the return of equipment to the DONOR.

We see great resistance in societies to “re-development”, we disagree. The re-development is truly a brilliant opportunity to create a much better living space than the current one. In a redeveloped building, one can adopt all green building practices, improve design, space, facilities and amenities for residents, with the current trend of self-redevelopment, it can even mean a boon for the residents.

Currently, there are more than 200 categories of services that housing companies and apartment buildings can use and are available on the market. But awareness of these products, solutions, services or advice is extremely low. We see a huge effort from MCGM in waste management education, but we don’t see the waste management practices adopted by most housing companies.

It’s a well-established fact that professional service providers and vendors rely on authentication and certification. Professional service providers live up to their commitments and promises of better service and product

Housing companies can usher in change for the better, not just for themselves, but for the whole city. Housing Society Management Show is a sincere effort to create a mindset of change for the better and is committed to promoting the use of professional services, products and advice.
