Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said on Monday that President Droupadi Murmu’s journey from a quarter corporal to the country’s highest office would be an inspiration to society.
After the swearing-in ceremony, the President highlighted her struggle and her challenges and spoke of democratic values and their strength in her speech. All of this is an inspiration to people, the CM said in an official statement posted here.
“Your journey from a neighborhood corporator to the highest office of president will inspire the society and your vast experience will set it in a new direction,” Chouhan tweeted in Hindi congratulating her on becoming the country’s first female tribal president.
In her speech, the President quoted Bhim Bhoi, a famous poet from Jagannath (Jagannathpuri) region.
“Mo jeevan pache narke padi thau jagat uddhar uh (I don’t worry about the good or the bad in my life. The public welfare and the welfare of the poor is the goal of my life),” she had declared.
Chouhan, who attended the swearing-in ceremony in Delhi, said “we will follow these holy thoughts word by word”.
