Hanoi (VNA) – President Nguyen Xuan Phuc stressed the need to improve the image, professional reputation and the status of lawyers during his speech at the Third National Lawyers Congress in Hanoi on December 26.
President Phuc, who is also the head of the Central Steering Committee for Judicial Reform, asserted that the Party and the state are always attentive to reforming the institutions, organization and activities of lawyers.
He appreciated their efforts to protect justice, the rights to liberty and democracy of citizens, and the legitimate rights and interests of individuals and institutions, thus contributing to the socio-economic development and judicial reform of the country, as well that the construction and improvement of the legal system the socialist state and ensure democracy, justice and civilization.
The Federation of Vietnamese Bars has become an important bridge between the state, the social community, the business community and the Vietnamese lawyers, helping to put Party policies and state laws into practice.
He stressed that in the context of deep international integration, it is necessary to strengthen international cooperation, create the conditions for Vietnamese lawyers to exchange and learn from international experience, and actively participate in the process. protection of the rights and interests of Vietnamese companies and the protection of national interests in international legal disputes.
Currently, Vietnam has more than 16,000 lawyers and more than 4,000 lawyer organizations. /.
