Channel: The Telangana Social Welfare Residential School (TSWR) (Boys), Bellampalli, which was transformed into a Center of Excellence four years ago, is setting an example for others by producing deserving pupils. Students at the center obtain places in the best educational institutions in the country that offer courses in engineering, medicine and other professional courses.
The students of the center who come from remote areas of the former district of Adilabad can get places in Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), National Institute of Technology (NIT) and technical institutions funded by the Center thanks to the dedication and unwavering guidance of the teachers and Principal Inala Saidulu who has been a driving force in the institution for seven years.
Obviously, Naitham Rajesh, a tribal student from this center and hailing from the inland village of Nagaram in Vemanapalli was admitted to IIT-Varanasi in 2020 while six other students got admissions in NITs over the past three last years. Two students Borkuti Anil from Sulugupalli in Bejjur mandal and Konuri Umesh Chandra from Batwanpalli village in Bellampalli passed out from this institution and obtained medical places in private medical colleges in 2020, according to information provided by the director.
Likewise, three students from the institution were given the opportunity to study at the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Ranchi in 2021. Three other alumni of the center were able to secure places at the University of Delhi in 2021. Four students were admitted to the Central Institute of Nautical Fisheries and Engineering Training (CIFNET) in Kochi, Kerala last year.
Six students were shortlisted by the Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology, Kovalam in Kerala. Five students were selected by the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), two students were shortlisted by Azim Premji University, Bangalore. Four students have secured places in the University of Rajasthan and one has been admitted to the University of Kerala so far.
“We adopt various innovative teaching methods and hone students with special attention to those who are unable to understand the lessons. We visit the homes of some students to learn about their socio-economic conditions and motivate their parents at regular intervals. We prepare them to make sacrifices for a bright future. As a result, students who come from government schools and Ashram schools run by tribal welfare departments can achieve good academic results,” Saidulu told ‘Telangana Today’.
In addition to academics, 24 students have participated in national-level games and sports, and 54 students have won medals at state-level events from 2016 to 2022. Thirteen students have been selected for special coaching in different sports academies run by the Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society. (TSWREIS)-in 2019. The success of the students in sports can be attributed to the hard work of physical education teachers, Shiva and Vaman.
The center won the National Swachch Purashkar Award for 2016-17. It was one of 14 selected educational institutions in Telangana to be honored with the award. The school principal received a cash award of Rs 50,000 and a certificate of appreciation. The center received the Harita Mithra Award from the state government for the effective implementation of Telanganaku Harita Haram in 2017.
