Journalists Cooperative Housing Society case: TS HC calls for status quo to be maintained

The Telangana High Court has asked the government to maintain the status quo in the Journalists Cooperative Housing Society case.

Upon hearing the motion for writ filed by B. Goparaju and 10 other journalists, Judge A. Abhishek Reddy issued notices to the defendants ordering them to maintain the status quo.

The petitioners had sought interim instructions from the State Government represented by its Principal Secretary, Department of Agriculture and Co-operation, and 6 other government authorities to hold elections at Journalists Cooperative Housing Society Limited, Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad by including the names of the petitioners in the eligible lists. Company voters list.

Further, the applicants argued that it was unlawful to declare the respondents’ action of dismissing the applicants’ objections to the inclusion of their names on the list of eligible voters of the Journalists Cooperative Housing Society Limited, Jubilee Hills, and to include the names of the applicants hereunder in the list of eligible voters of the Company and to conduct elections to the Company.

The plaintiffs’ solicitor, N. Sridhar Reddy, informed the court that the cooperative’s officials ignored the High Court’s order to consider the objections of the society’s members.

Hearing the claims, Judge A. Abhishek Reddy asked the Cooperative Societies Standing Council what caused the officials to ignore the Court’s guidelines.
